The Merries Release Tour - In Reflection

Hello! Marty from Anna’s Anchor here. I am currently sat in an open green area in front of a U.S college reflecting on the Summer that has just unfolded. This time last year I was recording and planning the release of “The Merries”. For a full year I dreamed about how the songs would sound in a live setting and just hoped we could play them in front of people that enjoy the songs as much as I do.

Here we are now, a year on and the album has been released into the world. The tour was a level up for us and at times a daunting undertaking. I won’t bore you with things such as increased overheads and greater risks but what I will tell you is that people came out in force to see us on this tour. At almost every show there was someone who travelled from another country to see us. I am so humbled by all of this. The band is getting to a level where I always hoped it would be but honestly never thought we’d get to. Whilst moments of rest and reflection were few and far between during the tour, I can now look back and see memories were created that will last a lifetime. That time we got to play in the venue that I went to as a kid and wished one day we could play, that time we pucked a sliotar around Inchydoney Strand in the sun or that time we played in front of 20,000 people in Pery Square, right outside the door of my old office where I worked before giving it all up for music.

To be a band for almost 9 years and have those experiences is the greatest gift. Thank you so much to everyone that came out to a show & checked out the new record. Thank you to Clare, Brian, Mike & Jamie for bringing these song to life in a live setting. Thank you to Gugai at Strange Brew, Amplify Agency & all the promoters that made this happen. Thank you music & thank you hurlin’.

I can’t fucking wait to do this again.

For the Parish!

Marty X
